In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Irvine; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–2 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Irvine is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Irvine follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Such a great Taiwanese spot in Irvine! King Chops completely exceeded our expectations, and everything we tried was so flavorful and satisfying. The crispy pork chop plate is definitely the dish to get. The pork chop was incredibly crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and had a really generous portion. It came out hot and crispy without feeling greasy, and we loved every bite. The braised pork rice was another standout. The pork was unbelievably tender and basically melted in our mouths. Combined with the rice, it was simple but SO comforting and flavorful. We also didn’t expect to love the cucumber salad as much as we did! It had a slightly spicy, tangy flavor that reminded us of kimchi cucumber, but what really stood out was how fresh and crunchy it was. The chunks of garlic on top were the perfect finishing touch. Service was fast, and everyone was really friendly and welcoming. We also enjoyed the teas they had available. Definitely adding King Chops to our list of favorite Taiwanese restaurants in OC. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

It's delicious Taiwanese street food and I keep coming back. Nothing better for a belly full of warm flavors. On Food: A great amount of food, and it's great food. Braised Pork and Chicken Leg Rice are both delicious, my wife loves their Black Rice. On Cost: Incredible quantity per money. Hard to beat. Get a side and an entree and you easily have two meals for the price of one at another establishment. On Service: Fast and efficient. It's a street food style place. You order, they give you your stuff, they'll check if you need anything, and and that's pretty much the end of the interaction. Don't confuse that with bad service.

Their famous pork chop is HUGE, crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. I got the pork chop rice combo, plus the spicy wontons and braised combination plate. Popcorn chicken and spicy wontons are so good too. This honestly felt like a meal straight out of Taiwan. Will definitely come back for more!

Come for the pork chop or the pork chops. This is a very focused Taiwanese street food restaurant. Hot water is provided via a self-serve dispenser, but bring your own tea bags. Yes, this restaurant offers less common dishes like chòu dòufu and pídàn. However, the quality was not better than what one could buy at Ranch 99 nearby. Service was underwhelming and a QR menu system only contributes to this with time. The room is decorated in plastic plants, as if you were at a street side stall under the shade of a tree. In summary, manage your expectations, know what you want (given what you want is fried pork or chicken), and bring your own tea bags.

Been wanting to try Kingchops and we just happen to be in Irvine to try it for dinner. Parking is relatively easy, but can be difficult with the amount of restaurants and businesses in the plaza. It’s a very small restaurant, with limited seating. They’ve definitely maximized the amount of seating in the place. The wait is relatively quick though. Service is quick friendly. Price is very fair for what you are getting and it’s nice. Food wise, definitely get the porkchop rice plate. It’s well cooked, seasoned and a good balance with some rice, noodles, veggies, and protein. I would pass on the braised pork rice. The pictures on the menu and on the displays made it look so appetizing, but what came out was just average and not like the pictures. Definitely fell victim to the in-store advertisements. The pork was okay, small portion, but I think it’s fair for price. A lot of rice too. The popcorn chicken was also good, good amount of seasoning, well cooked. Portion size was a decent and good snack while you eat. Teas are also good. The black tea in particular is strong and has an herbal grass jelly taste to it, while the green tea is lighter and more refreshing. Good place to e
